Unemployment surges to 5-year high as employers cut workers for eighth straight month

The unemployment rate rose to 6.1%, the highest level since September 2003. That's up from 5.7% in July and 4.7% a year ago.

The U.S. economy has lost 605,000 jobs so far this year

Remember how great things were when we had a President that focused more on national issues rather than foreign issues?? John McCain didn't really give any insight into how he will fix the housing mess, the job less mess, healthcare mess.

I don't dislike John McCain but he simply doesn't "get it".

I've been noticing that some of the seats on the trains (especially the very slow Red line) have been removed. Has anyone else noticed this? Well I figured out why...according to the CTA there are now too many passengers because of high gas prices....an additional 200,000 additional passengers each weekday! We've all heard of Road rage...but what about train rage? The red line is so frigin slow from Fullerton to Clark and Division that people already make a mad dash to get a seat once the doors open. It's quite comical actually. The funniest is when people run up the stairs only to see the doors start to close....it's always followed by "FUCK!". The look on their face as the train starts to move....priceless.

RNC: Yawn...boring...nothing new...same ole same ole

Barack Obama will start to pull ahead in the polls by a wide margin....not because of the awesomeness of the Democratic Convention but because with the RNC going on now. Seeing all of those white, conservative, old men will make people crave change even more. Who's running the RNC convention anyway? I've never seen one soooo boring before. It doesn't even look like they can fill the entire arena with fellow Republicans.

After the RNC is over it's Barack Obama's election to lose.

Democratic Party: Do we really want to lose this election due to Sexism?

To the Democratic party:

Keep on refering to Sarah Palin as just a "soccer mom". Keep on refering to Sarah Palin as "former Mayor" and overlooking her position as a present Governor.

Barack Obama contends that he is more experienced in executive matters than Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin because he has managed his presidential campaign for the past 18 months.

“Well, my understanding is that Governor Palin’s town of Wasilla has, I think, 50 employees. We’ve got 2,500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. You know, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. So I think that our ability to manage large systems and to execute I think has been made clear over the last couple of years" Obama Said

For Barack Obama to argue that he’s experienced enough to be president because he’s running for president is not the way to go here!

I am appalled by the Obama campaign’s attempts to belittle Governor Sarah Palin’s experience. The facts are that Sarah Palin has made more executive decisions as a mayor and governor than Barack Obama.

Because of Hillary Clinton’s historic run for the presidency and the treatment she received, American women are more highly energized than ever to recognize and decry sexism in all its forms. They will not tolerate sexist treatment of Governor Palin!

If we go this route....we will lose. Did we not learn anything from the arrogance of John Kerry? STOP IT!

I'm not a supporter of Sarah Palin but I'm also a very objective person. Here is FURTHER proof that the mainstream media is sexist! Implying that Sarah is neglecting her children is simply outrageous! STOP IT! If we keep to the issues we will win!

Metropolis Coffee Shop

John McCain's first wife

Republicans like to criticize Hillary Clinton and Elisabeth Edwards for staying with their husbands after they cheated on them. However, why isn't the same criticism directed at the likes of John McCain?

John McCain divorced his wife, a model at the time that he married her, after he began an adulterous relationship with a rich, beautiful woman 17 years younger than him. McCain carried on the affair for 9 months, while still living with his wife.

John McCain met his 2nd wife Cindy in April of 1979 while still married to his first wife, Carol

McCain would divorce his wife Carol, who had been disfigured and disabled in a car accident while McCain was in Vietnam in February of 1980. Court documents show that McCain lived his with his wife until January of 1980 despite claims in his book that the two had separated before he began his affair with his lover, Cindy.

Ross Perot paid for Carol’s medical treatment and was a family friend of sorts to the McCain’s at the time. Perot said the following of John McCain:

“McCain is the classic opportunist. He’s always reaching for attention and glory. After he came home, Carol walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona. And the rest is history.”

Doing the same thing

Doing the same thing I did yesterday...walking around downtown for some exercise. I hate being short! I weigh 126lbs and I'm 5'3. It's really frustrating! I need a 30 inch waste with a 28 length! Is that so much to ask for? Everything is always way to tight or way too baggy. Does anyone know if there are any clothing stores that cater to short MEN? That's right...at 35 years old I am a man! I'm so tired of shopping in the kids section :)

This is why a lot of Hillary Clinton supporters who are still extremely upset do not want to vote for Obama and will vote for McCain. If Obama were smart he would stay far from idiots (Ayers, Rev. Wright, etc.). I'm telling you...people like this will turn a lot of people off. We've all heard of guilt by associations. I think Sarah Palin is much more knowledgeable on issues than Sean Combs. Even though I don't agree with Sarah Palin I kinda think I would much rather have her a heartbeat away from the Presidency than Sean Combs. Also, to be fair she does in fact have more experience than Barack Obama. I'm sure I will get a lot of hate emails but it's the truth! So, what does crack heads , crime and black people have to do with being able to govern....and what is so wrong with Alaska?

Okay...I walking from downtown all the way to Edgewater (Hollywood Beach) would be a piece of cake. NOT! I've been walking for nearly two hours and I'm not even to Montrose beach yet! Thank God I came across this little restaurant because I definately need my "fountain" diet coke fix!
